(Guangzhou, November 24) The semifinals of the China Open Badminton Championships 2007 were staged on November 24. As a result, Sudket Prapakamol/Saralee Thoungthongkam from Thailand demolished Xie Zhongbo/Zhang Yawen 2-0 to shatter China's dream of taking the title of the mixed doubles.

At the beginning of the first game, the score was even many times, after 10-all, the Thai pair gradually extended the lead and took the first game 21-16. In the second game, Sudket Prapakamol/Saralee Thoungthongkam took an early lead by 4-0, despite the toughness of the Chinese pair, the Thais controlled the situation and took the second game 21-17 to claim the victory.

Zhang attributed their defeat to the proper tactics of their opponents, "They totally controlled us with crosscourt shots, were faster than us in hit consistency and made active attacks, while our shots were weak, so we were very passive through the match."

Besides tactical error, the objective reason for their defeat was that Xie and Zhang were not in physical shape. They have to play men's doubles and women's doubles respectively as well as the mixed doubles, and have entered the semifinals of all the three events. "I have been playing the women's doubles and mixed doubles this year and I am a bit tired from so many tournaments. I tried hard today but moved inefficiently."

Zheng Bo/Gao Ling also lost to this Thai pair yesterday, after the out of Xie/Zhang, China has bid farewell to the title of the mixed doubles of the China Open.
